Durango Toy Depot: Toy Shenanigans

Every week, we feature one store that carries Morphology. Although we haven’t been to every store that stocks our game, that would definitely be the first thing we’d do if we suddenly discovered that we could apparate.

Durango Toy Depot and Party Junction in Durango, Colorado, has got a lot of personality. Four personalities, to be precise.

Official Blast Pad Commander LouAnn is not only Durango Toy Depot’s “idea person” and handler of the “grown up paperwork”, but also a talented rocket launcher. (If you’ve been to the store, you may have seen her in action.)

Grandma Su brings three decades of teaching experience to Durango Toy Depot, as well as a deft hand for window display design and Nanoblock Deluxe Castle construction.

Gift wrapper extraordinaire Lori provides “comic relief” and some truly extraordinary wrap-jobs (think sunglasses, fake moustache and ribbon hair-extraordinary.)

Master Morphologist Betty takes it upon herself to ensure that everyone has nicknames and that the play never stops at Durango Toy Depot. She’s your classic tell-you-a-corny joke, chase- you-around-the-store-with-a-Pig-Popper kind of lady… in other words, one-of-a-kind.

We wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve abandoned this blog post and are making your way to 658 Main Ave right now—and we haven’t even told you about the toys yet! Well, suffice it to say Mr. Magorium would feel very at home at Durango Toy Depot.

Morphology certainly does. “Morphology challenges creativity and thinking outside the box,” writes Master Morphologist Betty. “We do that a lot around here.”

Well, for us that clinches it—this store and its colorful cast are pretty much perfect.

We say “pretty much” because the Durango Toy Depot staff do have one self-professed flaw: they can’t seem to keep their charges under control after hours. Just look at the overnight shenanigans in which these toys were caught:
