Charmed by Children's World

July 3rd, 2012 by Morphology Games

Every week, we feature one store that carries Morphology. Although we haven’t been to every store that stocks our game, that would definitely be the first thing we’d do if we suddenly discovered that we could apparate.

Children’s World didn’t waste any time in charming us here at Morphology Games World Headquarters.  Children’s World provides the highest quality school uniforms, embroidery, promotional products, and the most unique toys and games in the world,” they wrote when we asked about their store. Aww, gee.

We’re not the only ones they’ve charmed. This Florida store has been winning over customers and critics alike since 1964, earning titles like “Favorite Children’s Store” and “Best Bosses” year after year.   The “best bosses”–also known as Tim and Cynthia Holliday–put the recognition down to the “old fashioned, personal customer service” they dish up to everyone who walks through their doors.

But the store’s play-friendly attitude is likely what charms its younger customers. Children’s World puts out demo versions of nearly all of its toys and games out for anyone to try.

(This doesn’t exactly inspire calm; flying marshmallows are apparently not uncommon in the toys and games section.)

Despite the dangers of such a model, Tim and Cynthia understand first-hand the value of a playing before purchasing: it’s how they choose what to stock at Children’s World in the first place. “We play [games], and if we like them, we bring them in.”

And they liked Morphology, alright, calling it “one of the coolest, out-of-the-box thinking games there is.”

(Did we mention that we were charmed?)

When they’re not dodging flying marshmallows, Tim, Cynthia and the rest of the Children’s World staff can be found maintaining nearby Bee Ridge Park (which they’ve adopted), working with one of their many local partners like the Boy Scouts or Easter Seals… or (and perhaps more likely) playing-testing another game to share with the community of Sarasota, FL.
